Occupying an area of 2,941.60 square km, the Constituency’s main economic activity is agriculture-specifically growing of cashew nuts and rearing of indigenous livestock breeds.
Climate change in the Constituency has seen an increase in intensity and frequency in occurrence of extreme weather events such as severe drought and floods that has greatly affected the Agricultural sector.
The Constituency is mainly inhabited by the Mijikenda-Giriamas, Kaumas and Chonyis.
